Inti Cerita:
Cewek ini tidak boleh terkena sinar matahari sejak lahir / skin condition xeroderma pigmentosum (XP). Dia ke luar di malam hari, bernyanyi dengan gitarnya dan dengan temannya. Ada seorang cowok yang selalu lewat jalan itu, si cewek suka memperhatikan dia. Suatu hari si cewek mengatakan ''suka'' kepada si cowok.
Kalau matahari mengenai kulitnya, dia akan mati. Suatu hari, dia tak dapat menggerakan jari-jarinya saat sedang memetik gitar. Itu dikarenakan matahari. Sebelum hari itu, dia berlari menuju ke rumahnya di bawah matahari pagi, di hari kencan pertamanya dengan si cowok. Si cowok membawanya jauh dari rumah mengendarai motor, maka tidak ada tempat berteduh bagi si cewek. Cowok itu tidak tahu si cewek mempunyai penyakit mematikan. Itu akan mengakibatkan kelumpuhan permanen terhadap tangan dan kakinya hingga mati perlahan-lahan.
Perjuangannya menakjubkan. Keinosenannya membuatku menangis. Dia cantik, muda, ceria, tetapi kenapa begitu nasibnya? Orang tuanya sangat menyayanginya, dan mereka bersedih, tetapi tak dapat berbuat apa-apa. Dia meninggal setelah album yang direkamnya di studio karena impiannya menjadi penyanyi, mulai disiarkan di radio.
Malam adalah apa yang dia dulu miliki. Tidak ada bentuk matahari lain baginya, hanya bulan ''mataharinya.'' Tidur di siang hari dan bangun beraktivitas di malam hari. Tidak bisa pergi ke sekolah, hanya mendengar tentang sekolah dan siswa-siswa tampan dari temannya.

Neil (Ben Affleck) is an American traveling in Europe who meets and falls in love with Marina (Olga Kurylenko), an Ukrainian divorcée who is raising her 10-year-old daughter Tatiana in Paris. The lovers travel to Mont St. Michel, the island abbey off the coast of Normandy, basking in the wonder of their newfound romance. Neil makes a commitment to Marina, inviting her to relocate to his native Oklahoma with Tatiana. He takes a job as an environmental inspector and Marina settles into her new life in America with passion and vigor. After a holding pattern, their relationship cools. Marina finds solace in the company of another exile, the Catholic priest Father Quintana (Javier Bardem), who is undergoing a crisis of faith. Work pressures and increasing doubt pull Neil further apart from Marina, who returns to France with Tatiana when her visa expires. Neil reconnects with Jane (Rachel McAdams), an old flame. Pertemuan rahasia yang berlangsung di sebuah hotel di Berlin tersebut, gagal akibat sebuah serangan mendadak. Sang agen Korea Utara, Pyo, pun kemudian meloloskan diri demi menghindari kemungkinan identitasnya terungkap. Kejadian di Berlin itu kemudian memicu pemerintah Korea Selatan untuk menyelidiki bisnis perdagangan senjata ilegal, sert menyelidiki identitas Pyo sebenarnya. Penyelidikan yang dilakukan oleh agen Korea Selatan bernama Jung Jin-soo (Han Suk-kyu) ini, lalu menemukan fakta bahwa Pyo adalah seorang ghost agent, yaitu seorang agen rahasia yang identitasnya telah dihapus. Situasi bertambah rumit, tatkala Jung juga menemukan kemungkinan bahwa Pyo adalah seorang agen ganda, baik untuk Korea Utara ataupun Korea Selatan.
